Snuffy is a cast metal candle snuffer reduced to its essential gesture: a small weight, a soft angle, a circle for the hand. The form is direct and familiar, balancing somewhere between tool and ornament. Left on a table, it feels calm and self-contained.
Cast in brass, bronze or iron, each version carries its own weight, temperature and patina over time.
Snuffy does one thing: it puts candles out. It's a cast metal candle snuffer with enough weight to feel good in your hand and a simple shape that's hard to improve on. No moving parts, no hidden features, no reinvention of the candle. Just a solid object for a very old job.
Snuffy was part of Sell Out during 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, a design exhibition that took place inside a working vending machine at a local kiosk.
Twenty-six designers made objects that could be bought straight from the machine, with the money going directly to the people who made them. No gallery, no middleman, no waiting for someone to explain why a candle snuffer costs what it costs. Just design, stocked between snacks and cigarettes.
